Taper Connection Tightening Force

In this calculation, a bushing having a tapered junction with a shaft with a diameter D, having conical end of length L and cone apex diameter d is considered. The shaft is under the action of torque T and kept from slipping by the frictional force generated by the torque of the fastening axial bolt. As a result of calculations, the tightening force F ensuring the operability of the connection is determined.

For the calculation, the friction coefficient of the contacted surfaces μ and dimension l1 (look at figure) should be specified.

The tightening torque of the thread can be calculated here.
